As my first posting on my new blog, I wanted to take the time to say, I love the fourth of July with the loud sounds, bright sights of sparklers and fireworks fun with family But this is a special year for my grand daughter Ellie, turns 11 on the 4th of July and her sister, Emmie turns 9 on the 4th of August. Having them turn 9 and 11 years old in the next month, has even more significance for they have asked me to try to keep the sculpture called 'Joy 11" in the state of Florida. Dedicated to the children lost on 9/11 and the children left behind after 9/11, grand daughters Ellie and Emmie have contributed their own artwork designs to the Joy 11 sculpture. Once they gave me their sketches of some of their favorite works, I engraved them into the Joy 11 sculpture, finishing them off with color to resemble crayon 'petroglyphs'. The other sides have contributions by one of our founders of this project, Kay Krapf's three grandchildren, Daniel Pollitt of Marco Island, age 15, Kailey Krapf age 15, then Elizabeth Krapf, 17 showing a graduation scroll from 2001. Each child is very proud to be part of this project So I better make them happy by marketing the Joy11 to stay here.
What a great kick off for the new look of the Project 911up series of Memorial Sculptures with new website name of 911up.com .
